Semax is a synthetic heptapeptide analogue of ACTH (4-7) — Met-Glu-His-Phe-Pro-Gly-Pro — developed by the Russian Institute of Molecular Genetics. Unlike ACTH, it lacks adrenocortical activity but retains significant central nervous system effects.
