TB-500 is a synthetic analog of the naturally occurring peptide Thymosin Beta-4 (Tβ4), a 43-amino acid protein ubiquitously expressed in mammalian tissues. Thymosin Beta-4 plays a key role in actin polymerization, cell migration, and wound healing. TB-500 retains the key actin-binding domain responsible for many of Tβ4's biological activities.

Preclinical research has investigated TB-500's potential to promote angiogenesis, accelerate muscle and connective tissue repair, reduce inflammation, and support cardiac tissue recovery. It is frequently studied alongside BPC-157 due to complementary mechanisms of action.
